ROLE | CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND BRAND DESIGNER
The Coletivo Gafieira Amsterdam is a group of passionate dancers living in Amsterdam with a mission and a challenge: keep a community who loves to dance Samba de Gafieira alive while 9,571 km away from its mecca city Rio de Janeiro.
The dance's highly energetic character was translated with the creation of a dynamic living identity. Other visual cues such as the wheatpaste (lambe-lambe in Portuguese) look and feel and the assorted typographic approach were inspired by the group’s self-made and diverse characteristics, mixing it up with Brazilian urban popular culture references. Amsterdam is also present in this melting pot: the logo's "I" is made of known city symbols.
